Information of Haikou

HaiKou City, also known as the "Coconut City," is the capital of Hainan Province in China. It is the core city of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

 

Located in the northern part of Hainan Island, It is the political, economic, technological, and cultural center of Hainan Province. As of the end of 2022, the city had a permanent population of 2.93 million people.

 

HaiKou is known for its beautiful coastal scenery and is often referred to as a tropical seaside city. It has a tropical monsoon climate due to its location in the northern fringes of the tropical region. With a history of over a thousand years since its establishment in the Northern Song Dynasty, HaiKou is composed of the main island of Hainan, as well as the outlying islands of Haidian Island and Xinbu Island. The city covers a total area of 3,126.83 square kilometers, including 2,296.82 square kilometers of land and 830 square kilometers of sea area.

 

Some of the main attractions in HaiKou include the Drum Tower in the old city, the HaiRui Tomb, the Qiong Tai Academy, the Five Officials Temple, and the Xiuying Battery.
